Allan J. Sweet

President and Chief Executive Officer

Allan J. Sweet joined Safeguard Self Storage in August 2009 as President and Chief Executive Officer. With 25 years of real estate experience, he brings expertise to both the strategic and practical aspects of the business. In his role as President and CEO, Allan is responsible for setting Safeguard’s strategic priorities, while guiding the company’s tactical direction and financial success. His mission is to build on Safeguard’s 20-year history as an innovator in the industry and to establish the company as the undisputed leader in terms of product quality, service and value.

In addition to serving as Safeguard’s President and CEO, Allan also serves as President of AMLI Residential, one of the country’s premier multi-family development and management companies headquartered in Chicago. Allan has been associated with AMLI since 1985. Prior to joining AMLI, he was a Partner in the Chicago law firm of Schiff Hardin & Waite.

Allan received a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1968 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1973. From 1980 to 1983, he served as a trustee of American Equity Investment Trust, an over-the-counter equity REIT.
