Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
In his first business venture after graduating from Louisiana State University, Bruce C. Roch Jr. founded Safeguard Self Storage in 1989 in New Orleans, with a vision of a different kind of self storage company. In contrast with the industry's acceptance of storage buildings with little or no design elements in secondary markets, as well as a "commodity-like" approach to customer service, Bruce's vision included facilities in large metropolitan locations that are both functionally superior and architecturally appealing. In addition, Bruce acknowledged early on that even with top-quality stores, boasting industry-shattering design standards, nothing was more important than personal, friendly and distinguishing customer service. With those guiding principles in mind, Bruce set his vision in motion and Safeguard was born.
Since 1989, Bruce has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the company, setting Safeguard's strategic priorities, while guiding the company's tactical direction and financial success. Under his leadership, Safeguard has developed a unique and industry-leading product that has revolutionized the business. Today, Safeguard continues to raise the bar in the self storage arena, offering more than three million square feet of storage space in eight states. With Bruce's leadership, Safeguard has firmly established itself as one of the premiere self storage companies in the United States.
Bruce is an active member of the Young Presidents' Organization, a global network that helps business leaders exchange ideas, pursue learning and share strategies to achieve personal and professional growth. Additionally, Bruce serves on the board of directors at The Good Shepherd School in New Orleans. Opened in 2001 as part of the vision of the late Fr. Harry Tompson, S.J., The Good Shepherd School provides an excellent, tuition-free education in a safe and nurturing environment to at-risk children who are living below the federal poverty level. The mission of the school is to empower these children by providing them with the tools to break the cycle of poverty into which they are born.
A graduate of LSU, Bruce received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate. He is an avid pilot and also enjoys photography and cycling. |
