Chief Development Officer Jack A. Chaney has been a significant contributor to Safeguard's success since partnering with Bruce in 1992. As Chief Development Officer, Jack leads property acquisition and development efforts for the company. Jack brings a valuable combination of skills to the company, including more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, as well as significant financial expertise. During his 15+ years with Safeguard, Jack has acquired and developed more than $275 million in self storage facilities across the nation. To help him manage this growing asset base, Jack has developed a team of experienced real estate professionals with a powerful combination of self storage acquisition and development experience.

Before joining Safeguard, Jack served as Chief Financial Officer for Milliken and Michaels, a diversified investment firm. He received his Certified Public Accounting Certificate in 1981, and has more than 14 years financial and management experience, eight of which were spent in public accounting with Touche Ross, serving a wide variety of real estate-oriented companies. Jack is an alumni of the University of New Orleans, receiving a BS in Accounting and a BS in Finance.
