Furniture storage, clothing, antiques, paper items and household goods should always be stored in a temperature-controlled environment.

What are the minimum number of months I can rent?

Generally, there is no minimum length of stay. Rental agreements are month-to-month, so there’s no commitment to stay longer than you need to.

Do I need a reservation or can I just walk in and rent a space?

Yes, customers can just walk in and rent a storage space, although it is always good to call ahead to make sure the storage unit you need is available. While we have a wide variety of storage unit sizes in our facility, there are times when our most popular sizes fill up. Even if that is the case, we will do our best to find the ideal solution to your storage need.

What is 24-hour access?

24-hour access is a service we provide to our business customers that need access their storage unit(s) at any time. Please contact our store team for more information.

Does this facility have storage for vehicles?

No, this Safeguard Self Storage location does not have storage for vehicles, but our nearby location at 4301 Bronx Boulevard in the Wakefield area of the Bronx has storage garages for vehicle storage. The vehicle height cannot exceed 6.5 feet, as the door openings are approximately 6.5 feet high. If you have a larger vehicle or are looking for outdoor vehicle storage, our location at 156-01 Liberty Avenue in the Jamaica section of Queens has outdoor parking spaces in a completely enclosed, well lit parking lot. Access to this area is computer controlled, which limits entry to only our customers who have rented spaces in this area.

This facility is equipped with computer-controlled access to the building and storage area and motion sensitive digitally recorded video cameras throughout the facility.

How wide are storage unit doors?

There are two standard storage unit doors, the swing door and the roll-up door. Most of the smaller units, such as lockers, 5′ x 5′ and 5′ x 10′ will have either swing doors or roll-up doors, which both have about a 3-foot opening. For the large units, such as 10′ x 10′, 10′ x 15′, 10′ x 20′, and larger, they will have roll-up doors that have about an 8-foot opening, so they look like storage garages.

Do storage units have electrical outlets?

Storage units are not built with electrical outlets, but that doesn’t mean one can’t be added based on your needs. After you pay for installing the outlet, electricity can be provided to your storage space for a small monthly fee. Just remember, storage spaces are for storing items, not for conducting work or business out of. Please contact our store team for more information.

How tall are storage units?

Our walk-in storage spaces are about 8 feet tall, with the door opening about 6.5 feet high. If available, locker storage units are approximately 4 feet tall with the door opening about 2.5 – 3 feet high.
