Chicago, IL, Self Storage Units – Hermosa
Premium Hermosa Storage Units
Known both as the birthplace of Walt Disney and the former headquarters of the Schwinn Bicycle Company, Chicago’s Hermosa neighborhood is a vibrant community with strong manufacturing ties, vital public transit, and convenient proximity to downtown. Hermosa is home to nearly 26,000 people, as well as the Honduran Consulate-General office for the city of Chicago. Because it’s one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the city, storage can often come at a premium.
At Safeguard Self Storage, we help our neighbors in Hermosa, Humboldt Park, Austin, and Kelvyn Park cut down on clutter in their homes and businesses. Conveniently located on West North Avenue, our facility is just minutes from area public transit and local businesses. Drop by your storage unit while running your errands on the weekend or during your commute home from work.
Hermosa Storage Features and Amenities
Safeguard’s focus is on providing you with the storage features you need while keeping your rates low. Climate Controlled Units and Drive-In Loading Areas
Why is climate control important? Chicago weather can get bitterly cold and extremely hot, depending on the season. Heated and air-conditioned storage units keep your belongings that are sensitive to temperature from being damaged by these temperature fluctuations. We also have drive-in loading areas that keep our tenants protected while moving in inclement weather.
Advanced Security Measures
We take security seriously at Safeguard, but we go above and beyond standard locks and video recording and monitoring. Touchless computer-controlled access ensures that only the right people have access to your storage unit and our facility as a whole.

What size Hermosa storage unit do I need?
There are several factors to consider when deciding what size storage space you will need. First, what is it that you will be storing? Is it just boxes, or will you need to store the entire contents of your home or apartment? If it is just a few boxes, you may only need a locker-sized storage unit.
Second, you need to consider how you will use the unit. Will you need to visit the storage unit often to retrieve things, or will you place the items in storage and not go back again until you are ready to remove your things? If you will be visiting often, you’ll want to leave an aisle so you can get to the items you need to get to. If you don’t plan on going into the unit very often, then you can pack your items tighter and maximize your space.
Finally, will you be storing furniture and clothing, or will it be the tools you need for your job? Furniture storage, clothing, antiques, paper items, and household goods should always be stored in a temperature-controlled environment. Review our space estimator to calculate the amount of space required for your specific storage situation.

Does your Hermosa storage facility have room for vehicles?
Yes, at the Safeguard Self Storage in Chicago's Hermosa neighborhood, we have storage garages for vehicles. Exterior vehicle storage units are 10x20, 10x25, or 10x30, but the vehicle you are storing would have to be 6.5-feet tall or less, as the door opening is limited to 6.5 feet. If you have a larger vehicle or are looking for outdoor vehicle storage, our location at 9800 South Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview has outdoor parking spaces in a completely enclosed, well-lit parking lot. Access to this area is computer controlled, which limits entry to only our customers who have rented spaces in this area.
Why is a climate controlled storage unit in Chicago important?
All the storage units inside our Hermosa facility are air-conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. They are designed to store your climate-sensitive items, such as documents, leather goods (like furniture or clothing), antique wooden objects, family photos, or sensitive electronics. Weather fluctuations outdoors will not affect your items, as the temperature inside the building is controlled.
What is the minimum number of months I can rent?
Generally, there is no minimum length of stay. Rental agreements are month-to-month, so there’s no commitment to stay longer than you need to.
Do I need a reservation, or can I just walk in and rent a space?
Yes, customers can just walk in and rent a storage space at our Hermosa facility, although it is always good to call ahead to make sure the storage unit you need is available. While we have a wide variety of storage unit sizes in our facility, there are times when our most popular sizes fill up. Even if that is the case, we will do our best to find the ideal solution for your storage needs.
