Here are some of the ideas we’ve gathered in our experiences that may help you make the most of your storage unit.

Organizing & Grouping

Keep your belongings sorted and easy to find.

Group Like Items

Group like items together, whether on shelves or not

Use Shelves Wisely

Use shelves as intended — keep categories together

Utilize Drawers

Place smaller items inside drawers (DVDs, CDs, etc.)

Box It Up

Use boxes instead of plastic garbage bags, which can promote mildew

Maximizing Space

Make every square foot count.

Work Back to Front

Start at the back; reserve the front for odd-shaped objects

Go Vertical

Store long items vertically to save floor space

Stack Chairs

Stack chairs on top of each other

Remove Wheels

Remove wheels from rolling items so nothing shifts

Repurpose Cushions

Repurpose couch cushions as padding for breakable items

Disassemble What You Can

Take apart bed frames, tables, and other furniture to free up significant floor and vertical space.

Front-Load Frequently Used Items

Leave a Path

Leave a path wide enough to reach the back

Light Items on Top
